As the chill of winter sweeps across Fife, the golf courses are gradually closing their doors, marking the end of another season on the links.
However, luckily here at the Centre of Golf Excellence St Andrews the heating is on and our indoor simulators give us the chance to practice and play out of the cold, wind, rain and long winter nights.
Our facilities not only give you a chance to practice utilising state of the art technology including our Trackman 4 launch monitors and Sportbox 3D systems, but allows you to play a library of over 150+ courses.
From right here in St Andrews you can be walking the fast running fairways of Royal Melbourne, navigating the tight tree lined layout in the Swiss alps at Cranes-sur-sierre Golf Club or battling around Bethpage Black the host venue to golf’s yearly war of attrition the US Open, to name just a few.
As we look ahead to Spring in the far distance and our reuniting with the hallowed turf here at the home of golf, many will be thinking- How can I improve my game over the next few wintery month?
Here are some thoughts that may help you shave a few strokes off your game come April next year-
Take a lesson with one of our PGA Professionals with years of coaching and Tour experience. We offer lesson packages that will give you a chance to work through your game and unlock your true potential with the input of our teaching pro’s.
Here at the Centre of Excellence St Andrews we try to give our clients drills that they can take home, to attack a swing fault. These drills don’t require you to hit a ball or sometimes even swing a golf club. When rain is lasing against the window and a cold wind is howling it can be difficult to get out the front door.
With these drills we can groove a new motion, train our body and combat swing faults all at home, on a break from work- Where ever you have 15 minutes of spare time.
We are open 10-8pm Mon to Thurs, 10-6pm Friday and 10-4pm Saturday.
That means you can drop in to us after work, on a lunch break or on a Saturday when the courses are inevitably closed. We offer single use bay hire, membership packages and group bookings. Without the distraction of poor weather conditions, it gives you a chance to really focus whilst also using all the data the Trackman provides to fine tune your swing.
Get on our simulator golf courses, see new courses, challenge yourself on Tour Venue lay-outs and dial in your approach shots on some fun par 3 courses.
Bring friends, compete against each other with our fun to play games on Trackman. Whether its closest to the pin or a long drive contest on ‘Hit it’, if it’s fun chances are you’re getting better at the same time.
Winter is a great opportunity to building the foundations of your putting. On a strip of carpet, you can dial in your setup, eye position and start lines of your putting strokes with the help of a putting mirror, alignment stick or other training aid.
10 minutes here and there adds up over 4 Months of the Scottish Winter.
So if the long nights, grey cold days of winter here in St Andrews are all getting too much, remember there is another way to get through to the milder days of Spring and improve your golf along the way.
So come see us at the Centre of Golf Excellence St Andrews if lowering your handicap and having more fun playing golf is on your list to Santa this year!
